Social care is not free for everyone, you would normally expect to contribute towards your care costs. Whether or not care is fully funded, partially funded or privately funded will depend upon the type of care required, your needs and your finances.

If after a care needs assessment, your council decides you need support, you will receive a personal budget. You can choose to receive it as a direct payment instead of letting the council arrange services for you. Direct Payments give you more control with your care and support for example, mixing services i.e. home care, day centers, social clubs etc.
